Sinar Mas Mining, CENTER INT and LGMG Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Build a Green Mining Future with Smart Microgrids and Pure Electric Mining Equipment

Release time:2026-08-20

On August 20, 2026, Sinar Mas Mining, CENTER INT, and LGMG held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at CENTER INT’s Beijing headquarters. The three parties aim to use Sinar Mas Mining’s mining areas across Indonesia and Australia as the carrier to build a full-lifecycle green energy system for mines through an integrated “PV + storage + charging + transport” model, setting a new industry benchmark for green and smart mining. Representatives attending the ceremony included Huang Pengnian, Director of Sinar Mas Group; Liu Aisen, Chairman of CENTER INT; Yu Mengsheng, Chairman of LGMG; Lyu Yuan, Vice President of PV Products at LONGi; and Wang Gao, Head of Microgrid at LONGi Energy Storage.

The cooperation will cover four major scenarios: green planning for new mines, energy-saving renovation of operating mines, revitalization of closed mines through re-mining, and transfer logistics. For new mines, green planning will be implemented from the outset, including geological surveys, collaborative design of mining plans, stripping engineering support, and synchronized planning and construction of an integrated PV-storage-charging microgrid to avoid high subsequent retrofit costs. For operating mines, fuel-powered trucks will be replaced with pure electric vehicles through the deployment of PV-storage-charging microgrids, liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging stations, and the CENTER Cloud energy dispatch platform, achieving diesel substitution and significantly reducing energy costs. For closed mines, idle land will be used to build PV and energy storage systems, supported by a full set of pure electric extraction, stripping, and transport equipment, reducing mining costs through low green electricity prices, enabling resource re-mining, and extending mine service life. For transfer logistics, new energy equipment and intelligent dispatch will be adopted to make cargo transfer more efficient, lower in cost, and lower in carbon emissions, achieving both economic and environmental benefits.

This cooperation innovatively builds a sustainable full-chain business model, forming a complete value system integrating “mining resources + PV-storage-charging green microgrid + electric mining equipment + re-mining of closed mine resources + asset O&M value-added services.” In terms of technical pathway, a fully DC microgrid architecture is adopted, where PV green electricity is regulated by energy storage and supplied directly to electric equipment, reducing AC/DC conversion losses by more than 10%. It is equipped with an ICS four-level safety protection system and a customized energy dispatch system for mining areas, enabling coordinated “source-grid-load-storage” control and improving green electricity consumption ratio and fleet operational efficiency. In terms of implementation strategy, a mining area in Berau, Indonesia, that is about to be closed will serve as the first pilot to quickly create a demonstration effect and lay the foundation for subsequent large-scale replication across mining areas in Indonesia and Australia.

The three parties will leverage their respective core strengths to form an efficient collaborative mechanism: Sinar Mas Mining, as the cooperation carrier, will provide mining rights and land, local industrial resources, and policy coordination capabilities, offering comprehensive support for project implementation; CENTER INT will contribute its accumulated technical advantages and project experience in integrated PV-storage-charging microgrids for mining, providing EPC general contracting for integrated PV-storage-charging microgrids, liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging systems, mining energy cloud platforms, and full-cycle O&M capabilities; LGMG will provide pure electric mining equipment adapted to mining conditions and supporting technical services.

Upon completion of the cooperation, it is expected to help Sinar Mas Mining reduce comprehensive energy costs by more than 30%, achieve re-mining of closed mine resources through green electricity renovation, effectively extend mine LOM service life, unlock the value of dormant mining rights, meet ESG green mining standards, enhance the overall valuation of mining assets, and open a second growth curve of “minerals + new energy.”

This strategic signing marks the official launch of a long-term, deepened, and open strategic partnership among Sinar Mas Mining, CENTER INT, and LGMG. The three parties will jointly promote the implementation of green transformation across Sinar Mas Mining’s mining areas in Indonesia and Australia, setting a new industry benchmark for mining electrification and green transformation.
